Nerve pain can be a severe and debilitating ailment. Usually, those who’ve endured nerve pain must rely on prescriptions for even slight relief. Yet, you may not want to spread toxic chemicals all over yourself. Likewise, you might not want drugs with a long list of nasty side effects. However, what can you reach for when you are in misery?
My sister inspired this salve when her diabetic neuropathic pain was so unbearable she couldn’t walk from the couch to the kitchen. Although she was taking prescriptions for her diabetes she was still in severe pain. There had to be a better solution in order to help, I said. So I, as I am prone to do, dived into researching and creating.
My homemade natural diabetic pain relief salve has worked for her and as a result others have found relief. This incredible salve may just become your new pain relieving “salvation” – see what I did there? Salve + ation!☺
If you or a loved one has been professionally diagnosed with neuropathy or suffer any of these symptoms, JBHomemade’s Diabetic Pain Relief Salve might be worth a try.
Made with ❤️️Love.

On the other hand, I am a researcher. I came across more information on essential oils specifically beneficial for neuropathic and nerve pain. My findings prompted an improvement to the recipe I use to make this fabulous salve for you. Thus, creating a new and improved recipe.
What Makes Essential Oils Good For Nerve Pain? These are the qualities to look for:
- Analgesic – The analgesic properties of some essential oils give them the ability to numb or dull receptors, which means relief from pain. For example: Frankincense essential oil
- Anti-inflammatory – Anti-inflammatory compounds in essential oils help to reduce inflammation or swelling namely arthritis and tendinitis. For instance: Sandalwood essential oil
- Anti-spasmodic – Compounds present in some essential oils have anti-spasmodic qualities, which stop the spasming of muscles. They halt the transmission of parasympathetic nerve impulses and lessen muscle spasming. For example: Patchouli essential Oil
- Sedative – Some essential oils have natural sedative properties, which help to induce calmness and promote sleep. For instance: Lavender essential oil
- Nervine – Natural nervine compounds found in some essential oils have the ability to calm the nerves. Some essential oils like ylang ylang and rosemary have potent nervine properties.

I make an infusion from the herbs mentioned earlier, Ginger, St. John’s Wart, Cloves and turmeric using grape seed oil. I let the infusion sit for a minimum of 3 weeks to a month in a sunny location on the homestead. I then blend melted beeswax and shea butter with infused grape seed oil while adding the essential oils last after the salve has chilled for a couple of minutes.
